I studied Design in Essen and Photography and Creative Arts at Edinburgh College.
Since 2007 I have worked as a freelance photojournalist for news agencies including Snapshot-Photography, IMAGO, Süddeutsche Zeitung Photo and dpa - covering protests and political actions in Berlin, conflict zones in the Middle East, street art and urban culture, and NGO missions such as Sea-Watch rescue operations in the Mediterranean and Hard to Port campaigns against whaling in Iceland.
My photos have appeared in newspapers, books and magazines such as Der Spiegel, and have been exhibited in galleries including the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. Member of the German Journalists Association (DJV) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) since 2008, national press ID.

Travels / Projects
Westbank, early 2012
In a one-day-trip we visited the village of Nabi Saleh in the Westbank. Like every Friday there has been a protest against a nearby Israeli settlement. Like every Friday there have been clashes between the protesters and the IDF.
Aleppo, Syria - December 2012
The civil war had been waging for just over a year, as we entered Syrian territory in late 2012. Each day rebels told us that the war will be won and will be over soon. The sheer destruction and madness was unbelievable.
Israel and Gaza, 2014
Digging for bodies after an Israeli airstrike. Showing off Israeli rockets. A playground. An orthodox Jewish family watching rockets fired by Hamas out of Gaza.
Iraq & Syria, late 2014
As part of a delegation of medics and journalists I traveled to Rojava, to inspect and document the medical condition in northern Syria.

Sea Watch 3, 2019 & 2020
I joined the crew of the Sea-Watch 3 for two missions in 2019 and 2020. Sea-Watch is a German non-governmental organisation that saves lives in the Mediterranean sea.
